They are getting there!

I think today is going to be named Walking Wednesday....

David has been walking around all morning and just after they got out of the bath this morning, Joe was pootling around the place too. I've made sure they've got trousers that are not too long on so that if they are still in a walking mood they won't be impeded by the trousers.

They are so pleased with themselves and smile and beam away while they are walking around the place.

Neil and I had a chat about shoes this morning. I know from my Nanny training that it's best to give children at least 6 weeks from beginning to walk until buying shoes in order to let their feet spread out... so we're going to wait until after Christmas to buy some. It's exciting though and was so strange to see both of them walking together... I think that is going to take a bit of getting used to!

David and Joe were 20 months old yesterday, so that is another thing I can't believe... only 4 months until they are 2 years old... how on earth can that be?

Mr W strikes again!

The wonderful Mr W has done it again....

No I am not pregnant. But my very good friend is! She's had 5 IVF cycles in the last 15 months and finally, finally she's pregnant again.

Good old Mr W put her on all the good drugs he put me on and hey presto another baby (or perhaps 2 or 3 as she had 3 embryos transferred) is on the way.

I haven't stopped smiling since she told me at 2.30 this afternoon!

Another boy walks and an exciting day in general!

So exactly 24 hours after David did it, Joe decided it was time to walk across the room. Well, I bribed him a bit really. I popped his favourite teddy on the sofa and stood him up about 2 metres away and hey presto... the boy walked! Clever chap... He's done it several times since.

But this morning.... well, if it's Tuesday it's a Twintastic day and today at Twintastic, the fire brigade came to visit. We had a chat from a fireman and then the twins were all taken out to see the fire engine... the lights were flashing, but no siren was ringing out... think it might have been a bit noisy! But the children seemed to like it which is the main thing. One of the children found an apple and ate it... hope the fireman it belonged to wasn't too upset!

We love Twintastic!

One of my boys walks!

This afternoon at 4.30, David decided that it would be a good time to walk across the room for the first time. He didn't just do it once, he did it about 10 times. Then he cruised along one sofa, let go of it and walked over to the other sofa.

There was much cheering from me and I managed to get a little bit of video of him walking too. Joe was also very impressed and tried his best to copy his brother. I don't think he'll be far behind so watch this space for another boy walking very soon!

I'm a proud Mummy!

Golden - in more ways than one

I couldn't believe how beautiful the trees were on a walk I went on yesterday with the boys. This is a picture of the Queen's back garden at Windsor Castle from the opposite bank in Datchet. Beautiful isn't it?

Anyway, when I was uploading this photo, it struck me that this time 3 years ago was when we found out that we had lost our first IVF pregnancy. After the second IVF biochemical pregnancy, Neil and I went for a walk along the river. I remember sobbing that all I wanted to do was to take my own children to feed the ducks after years and years of taking other people's children to feed the ducks.

It just so happens that on Sunday afternoon I'd had my first conversation with David... a proper conversation with questions and answers and everything. I'd said to him "What shall we do tomorrow David?" he said "Duck ducks!" I said "do you want to feed the ducks?" and he said "yes" so this is how we got to be beside the River Thames to see this lovely golden spectacle.

We'd been to the playground first and had a long go on the swings and lots of goes on the slide. Then we'd fed the ducks and on the way back to the car we had to stop at the level crossing to wave at the "choo choo", so as you see, yesterday afternoon was golden in more ways than one!
